Domain Registration

1. What is domain ?
A domain name is a unique address on the internet which tells computers where to find your website on the internet. A domain name denotes an organization on the Internet. For example: www.webscenter.com , locates an Internet address for "webscenter.com" at Internet point 216.34.94.184 and a particular host server named "www". The "com" part of the domain name reflects the purpose of the organization or entity (in this example, "commercial") and is called the top-level domain name. A domain name is really just an alias for your IP number address. When you sign up to put a Web site on the Internet with, you are given an Internet Protocol Number, or address. All the computers on the Internet can retrieve your site by pulling up this IP number. A domain name will allow you to have a World Wide Web address like www.yourname.com instead of having only a number such as 123.123.123.123.

2. Why the price of registering a domain through Webscenter is not so expensive as others?
We are one of the reseller of Enom ( like Network Solutions ) who is Level 1 US Registrar. Normally, we usually offer free service to our customers for domain registration and therefore, the charge is very reasonable.

3. Is the domain I registered belong to me?
The domain belongs to you as long as you fill in your personal information during domain registration.

4. Can I transfer my domain and hosting to Webscenter?
Webscenter only offer web hosting and do not offer domain parking. We help you transfer domain to Enom ( like Network Solutions ) for domain parking and offer hosting service after the domain transfer.

5. How can I pay for my domain name registration?
You can either pay the domain name registration fee directly to Webscenter for overseas domain or pay directly to domain registrar (e.g. HKDNR) in Hong Kong Territory.

6. Why my domain is not very stable after DNS update?
DNS update takes 1-2 day in order to activiate completely. Since the IP address for the domain is cached in the ISP name server and the DNS update takes time to propagate.

7. How can I apply for domain name ?
You can register any domain name through the resellers of UUNN Domain Registrar. (www.UUNN ). There are around 200 resellers for Domain Registration. Enom and Network Solutions are some of the resellers involved in domain registration.

8. Can I register more than 1 domain name ?
Yes, you can register more than one domain name providing that the domain names are not used or reserved by others.

9. Does Webscenter handle all types of domain registration ?
Webscenter only provide the following domain name registration service for our customers: .com, .net, .org,.info, .biz, .ws, .com.hk, .net.hk, .org.hk.com.cn, .net.cn, .org.cn.idv.hk

10.How to qualify for registering .hk domain name?
Domain name ending with com.hk has to be applied by Hong Kong registered company which need provides Business Registration Certificate or Certificate of Incorporation. Every company can only apply for one domain name.Domain name ending with net.hk can only be registered by Hong Kong ISP. Org.hk can only be registered by non profit making organization. Domain name ending with edu.hk can only be registered by educational institutes. Domain name ending with ind.hk can be registered by any Hong Kong citizen aged 11 or above.

11. Do you offer a "Web Site Under Construction " page ?
Yes, we can create a ¡° Web Site Under Construction ¡° in the customer website in case they are not yet ready.

12. How long does it take to register or transfer a domain name ?
Registering a top level domain name takes 24hoursRegistering a country localized domain may take longer (say : .com.hk), Normally, it take 4 business days for the registration.

13. Can multiple domains point to the same HTML files ?
Yes, an user can point multiple domains to the same html files.

14. What is sub-domain ?
Sub-domain, technically called Canonical Domain or c-name for short, works the same as a regular domain name. But you needn't pay for the yearly renewal fee. For example, for URL "http://domain.mydomain.com", the "domain" in front of "mydomain.com" is called sub-domain. It can be anything like admin, peter, support etc.. This is used to divide you website into different division in order to have a better management. The sub-domain address can be redirect to any directory within your public_html or other website.
